Tommy - grandson of the late Jack and Vera and son of Terry - is to make a surprise reappearance in Weatherfield next month, more than ten years after he was last seen on screen.
Child actors Darryl Edwards and Joseph Aston portrayed the younger versions of the character, but Tommy is now 19 and quickly develops a reputation as a ladies' man following his return.
According to The Sun, Tommy starts out by trying to chat up Weatherfield couple Sophie Webster (Brooke Vincent) and Sian Powers (Sacha Parkinson), unaware that they are lesbians.
He is also expected to annoy David Platt by attempting to get close to his fiancée Kylie Turner (Paula Lane), before his romantic attentions move on to Rovers barmaid Tina McIntyre (Michelle Keegan) - who he seems most infatuated with.
Tommy arrives back on the street to pay a visit to Jack, unaware that he passed away late last year. After hearing the sad news, he is expected to be welcomed into the community thanks to his "quick wit and easy charm".
Fountain has previously starred in Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks and BBC drama Five Days.
