Fountain girlfriend 'jealous at Corrie scenes'

Coronation Street newcomer Chris Fountain has admitted that his girlfriend isn't happy that his character flirts with Tina McIntyre on the show.

The actor recently joined the ITV1 soap as Tommy Duckworth - grandson of the late Jack and Vera and son of Terry - who sets his sights on Tina (Michelle Keegan).

"There's going to be a lot of sexual tension between Tina and Tommy and it's definitely good fun getting to flirt with Michelle," he told The People. "My girlfriend [Jessica Derrick], who is in London, is not too happy, though.

"But at the end of the day she knows it's a job and there's a lot worse things I could be doing. I can't stress how welcoming everyone has been here, from the producers to the men on security desks."

He added that he has been staying with new co-star Ryan Thomas (Jason Grimshaw) since he started filming scenes three weeks ago. "I'm not sure how good a housemate I am. I've been crashing there for weeks and I only got round to asking where the dishwasher was this week," he said.

Fountain recently insisted that his character will not be a villain.
