The drama begins when Carla informs her workforce that she is cutting their hours with immediate effect following Frank's withdrawal of the lucrative business contract.
Later, Janice complains that a fairer cost-cutting idea would be for Carla to sack one employee - causing a stir among her colleagues. Soon afterwards, on her lunch break at The Rovers, Janice tells Sean and the girls that they should all walk out until Carla reinstates their usual hours.
Unfortunately for Janice, Carla has heard every word and tells Janice that she'll be taking her advice about cost-cutting - firing her on the spot. How will Janice recover from this big setback? And can Carla and Maria get the fortunes of the factory back on track?
