Paula Lane: 'I want to get married'

Coronation Street star Paula Lane has revealed that she would like to get married in real life.

The actress, who plays Kylie Turner in the ITV1 soap, has been dating fellow actor Tom Shaw since they met at the age of 17 and told the Daily Star Sunday that he is "definitely the one".

"Tom and I are moving up to Manchester in a few weeks' time," the 24-year-old said. "We're feeling very lucky at the moment as we're both in a position where we're working. I think we're just enjoying being young, having holidays and loving life as a couple.

"But saying that, I'd definitely say yes to getting married if he asked me. I think he's waiting to make sure it feels right - but he's had long enough. We've been together for years. He's definitely the one, there's no doubt in my mind. It's taking him a little longer to figure it all out. But we're very happy."

Speaking of her character's upcoming wedding to David Platt (Jack P Shepherd), she said: "A lot of people already think that it's not going to work, so I'd really like to prove them all wrong. When Kylie turns up at the register office, Gail is completely shocked as she's tried to pay her off. Everyone will see Gail squirming in her seat."

Lane added that she is "chuffed to bits" that her Coronation Street contract has been extended until 2012.
