Wayne Rooney: 'David Platt is the man'

Wayne Rooney has revealed that he is a big fan of Coronation Street character David Platt.

The footballer, who joined Twitter last month, revealed the news on the social networking site, adding that Max Branning is his favourite EastEnders character.

He wrote: "Waiting for Coronation Street and EastEnders to come on. Chilling with [wife] Coleen.

"Favourite character on Corrie. David Platt. Steve McDonald and Becky make me laugh. But Platty is still the man. Favourite character on EastEnders. Easy. Max."

Emmerdale star Kelvin Fletcher (Andy Sugden) replied to the couple, joking: "Never mind Corrie and EastEnders what about Emmerdale!!!" Coleen tweeted back: "Just watched it ha x."

Speaking of her favourite Coronation Street character, she added: "I like Becky McDonald."

Other famous fans of the ITV1 soap include Snoop Dogg, who has long campaigned for a cameo in the show.
