Coronation Street's Ken Barlow will reportedly be left feeling hot under the collar when he is mistaken for someone else by a stripper.

Newcomer Imelda, who will be played by Charlene Shaw, is hired as a surprise for Jason Grimshaw's (Ryan Thomas) birthday but mistakes Ken (William Roache) for the real recipient.

According to The Sun, soap bosses hired real-life pole dancing teacher Shaw after being impressed by her CV. The 29-year-old is a former student of Manchester's Laine Johnson Theatre School, which was attended by ex-Corrie stars including Tina O'Brien and Sarah Lancashire.

Imelda will feature in previously reported scenes which see The Rovers Return trashed during a brawl.

The fight will break out at the party when tensions rise between Chris Gray (Will Thorpe) and Frank Foster (Andrew Lancel). Viewers will apparently see Becky McDonald (Katherine Kelly) punched by Imelda.

"This storyline has it all - sex, violence and comedy," a source told the paper. "It would be lovely to have Imelda around more."
