Corrie's Craig Gazey defends Graeme

Craig Gazey has defended his character's recent actions on Coronation Street.

The actor plays Graeme Proctor, who left girlfriend Tina McIntyre (Michelle Keegan) for Xin Chiang (Elizabeth Tan) following their sham marriage.

Gazey has now defended the plot on Twitter after receiving tweets from unhappy fans.

He said: "How funny that tweeple are abusing me for the actions of that FICTIONAL character that I play named Graeme! (sic).

"In my FICTIONAL character's defence,he was made to marry & live with the Women & starved of his girlfriend's company,What do you expect?"

He recently revealed that he would like his character to return to the soap as a widower.
