Ben Price has reportedly signed a six-figure deal to keep playing Coronation Street's Nick Tilsley for another year.

The actor took over the role as Gail Platt's eldest son in 2009. Price met with bosses to discuss his future in the Weatherfield serial last week, according to the Daily Star.

"Ben loves Coronation Street and he loves playing Nick," a source told the paper. "He's had some fantastic storylines over the last year and thinks the writers have some amazing plans for Nick.

"It wasn't exactly a hard decision to make. He's thrilled to stay and can't wait to sink his teeth into some of the juiciest storylines he's ever had."

The businessman was left heartbroken earlier this year when Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) failed to choose him over husband Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne).

It was recently revealed that Nick will fall into bed with Becky McDonald, who hopes to make her estranged husband Steve jealous by having the fling.

"Nick's hot, free and single," an insider teased. "That can only mean trouble for Weatherfield's women."
