Corrie's Brooke Vincent confirms footballer romance

Coronation Street star Brooke Vincent has confirmed that she is dating footballer Josh McEachran.

The actress, who plays Sophie Webster in the ITV1 show, was introduced to the Chelsea star at a Manchester City game six weeks ago - but Vincent has insisted that she isn't a WAG.

"Yes, he's my boyfriend but it's early days and I want to keep it quiet so he can get to know me for me and not for my job," she told The People. "We get on really well and have a laugh and I enjoy being with him, so we'll see how it goes.

"I've been called worse things than a WAG but it's not right people label me just because my boyfriend happens to be a footballer. I have been in Coronation Street for eight years and I have worked for everything I've got ­without Josh."

The soap star also brushed off claims that she was dating footballer Jack Wilshere, saying that she has lots of male friends.

"Jack is just a friend," she said. "There really wasn't anything going on. I have loads of friends who are boys because I'm a lads' kind of girl - I play FIFA football video games and I'm quite a tomboy."

Vincent has signed a new 12-month contract to stay at Coronation Street.
