Fiz Stape will reportedly be attacked after exposing a prison drugs ring in an upcoming Coronation Street plot.

The troubled mum is locked up after being charged with the murders committed by her missing husband John Stape. As previously revealed, the factory worker is left disturbed after becoming aware of her fellow inmates selling narcotics.

When her cellmate Ginny dies from an overdose, Fiz - played by Jennie McAlpine - is persuaded by wardens to reveal the truth, in return for a transfer to a Mother and Baby unit.

However, The Sun reports that when she is seen leaving the governor's office, she is set upon by a fellow inmate. The beating leaves Fiz even more scared, as her attackers warns her that they have friends throughout the prison.

"This is one of the toughest subjects ever tackled by Coronation Street," a source told the paper. "Poor Fiz will be in serious danger and has made a very powerful enemy in jail. She'll be absolutely terrified and viewers will feel really sorry for her - especially as she is innocent."

Fiz questions her decision to move to the mother and baby unit, fearing that her daughter Hope could be targeted.

"Fiz has never faced violence like this before and she's terrified," the insider revealed. "Even her murderous husband was never anything but nice to her. And the threats to Hope really worry her. She'd be devastated if anything happened to her baby after all they've been through together."

It was recently announced that Rebecca Callard - daughter of Liz McDonald actress Beverley Callard - will play inmate Ruth, who is thought to be behind the supply of drugs in the prison.
