POTD: Gary terrifies Izzy in 'Coronation Street'
Published Monday, Jul 25 2011, 08:46 BST | By Daniel Kilkelly | 1 comment
Coronation Street's troubled Gary Windass leaves girlfriend Izzy Armstrong terrified as his behaviour takes a disturbing new twist in tonight's double bill of the soap.
Following Izzy's mugging ordeal, Gary takes his partner's wheelchair away to be repaired but soon steps up his control by refusing to hand it over once it's fixed, leaving Izzy a prisoner in her own home.
Soon afterwards, Gary shocks the feisty factory worker by claiming that it's too dangerous for her to leave the house again, before declaring that he plans to look after her all the time from now on.
Speaking in a recent interview with Digital Spy, Mikey North - who plays Gary - explained: "I think what we're seeing is Gary's post-traumatic stress coming back to the fore… At first, I think [Izzy] can sense that something's not quite right, but she doesn't want to overreact in case it makes the situation worse.
"She tries to get Gary to calm down and just goes along with it, but then things spiral too far out of control…"

Coronation Street continues tonight at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV1.
