The pair, played by Sally Dynevor and Michael Le Vell, fall back into each other's arms next month after Kevin's father Bill suffers a heart attack, according to The Sun.
It is thought that viewers will see Sally comfort Kevin amid his worries over Bill, before things take a step further as they spend the night together.
Sally split from Kevin at the end of last year after discovering that he had cheated on her with shop worker Molly Dobbs. They later became embroiled in a bitter divorce battle, but have got back on better terms in recent months.
Speaking of the next twist in store, a Coronation Street source told the newspaper: "Kevin can't wait to tell everyone - including his dad - that they're back together again. He loves Sally and had ended the affair well before she found out."
However, whether Sally really will take Kevin back beyond their night together remains unclear as Coronation Street's producer Phil Collinson recently said that an imminent reunion for the pair was not on the cards.
"Sally is going to take a long time before she can forgive Kevin and trust him again," Collinson told Digital Spy earlier this month. "I think that we'd sell that story and those characters short if we put them back together too soon - and indeed if ever."
