POTD: 'Coronation Street's dark Carla and Frank storyline begins

Coronation Street's Carla Connor turns to Maria for help after Frank viciously assaults her in tonight's double bill of the soap.

Carla continues to keep quiet over her wedding doubts this evening, but when Frank (Andrew Lancel) sends the factory workers home early and they're left alone, she finally tells him that she can't marry him.

Shocked that Carla (Alison King) has left it so late to call off the ceremony, an agitated Frank storms out of Underworld. However, he catches up with her later at the flat and angrily demands answers.

When Carla asks Frank to leave following their showdown, events take a tragic turn as he attacks and rapes her.

Later, when Frank runs off into the night, Carla makes a desperate phone call to Maria (Samia Smith) and the hairdresser comes over straight away. With Maria's help, will Carla have the courage to report Frank and ensure that he is punished for his crime?


Coronation Street airs tonight at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV1.
