'Coronation Street' rape aftermath dents 'Waterloo Road'

Coronation Street's special Wednesday outing easily overpowered Waterloo Road last night, overnight data has revealed.

Frank's arrest and the aftermath of Carla's rape pulled in 8.02m (35.6%) at 7.30pm, adding a further 456k (2%) on ITV1 +1.

Waterloo Road was dented in its half-hour clash, averaging 4.13m (18.1%) between 7.30pm and 8.30pm - its audience rose over the hour.

Emmerdale's midweek instalment logged 6.47m (32.3%) at 7pm and 208k on ITV1 +1 for Gennie and Nikhil's fallout.

Meanwhile, drastic steps from Bart in Hollyoaks attracted 1.2m (6.4%) at 6.30pm. E4's first look fetched 538k (2.7%) at 7pm.

Elsewhere, Doctors averaged 1.51m (21.7%) for an episode titled 'Last Words', ahead of Neighbours' 751k (11.2%) at 1.45pm.

However, 1.18m (7.9%) caught up with the Ramsay Street serial at 5.30pm, after which Home and Away mustered 850k (4.9%) and 5*'s first look grabbed 417k (2.2%).
