POTD: 'Coronation Street's Chesney says goodbye to Schmeichel

Coronation Street's Chesney Brown faces the worst day of his life as he finally says goodbye to his beloved dog Schmeichel in tonight's double bill of the soap.

Chesney's nightmare begins when the vet informs him that Schmeichel has taken a turn for the worse and should be put to sleep, but the teenager refuses to consider it and takes his pet back home.

When Chesney (Sam Aston) arrives back on the cobbles, he won't listen to Kirk, Anna or Owen as they urge him to realise that he should put an end to Schmeichel's suffering. It's only when Katy (Georgia May Foote) returns home and speaks to him that Ches finally accepts what he has to do.

After calling the vet, Chesney is overwhelmed with grief as he bids a final farewell to Schmeichel. How will Chesney cope without his best friend?


Coronation Street airs tonight at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV1.
