Coronation Street's new recruit Robert Vaughn will be using Betty Driver's old dressing room when he arrives for filming at the soap this week, according to a report.

The Hollywood actor has joined the cast of the ITV1 show for a guest stint as wealthy Milton, who turns up in Weatherfield after enjoying a holiday romance with Sylvia Goodwin (Stephanie Cole) on a cruise. He is expected to shoot his first scenes on Wednesday.

Driver's prestigious dressing room was locked up after the veteran actress passed away at the age of 91 in October. However, The Mirror reports that it has now been prepared for Vaughn's arrival.

A Coronation Street source told the newspaper: "It's an honour to get Betty's room - she is still sorely missed. And what a fitting person to be first in. They don't come much more famous than Robert Vaughn."

Driver's old room is understood to be neighboured by those of other show favourites like Bill Roache (Ken Barlow) and Barbara Knox (Rita Sullivan).

Coronation Street fans will see Milton's first scenes in early 2012.
