'Coronation Street' kisses aren't sexy, says Chris Fountain

Coronation Street star Chris Fountain has insisted that there is nothing "sexy" about filming kissing scenes for the soap.

The actor's alter ego Tommy Duckworth is expected to embark on a relationship with Michelle Keegan's character Tina McIntyre this year, which begins when they share a kiss in a few weeks' time.



However, the 24-year-old told PA that romantic scenes can sometimes be difficult to play on set.

Fountain commented: "When you're doing kissing scenes there's about 50 people all watching, so it's like the least sexy thing you would ever imagine. So it's a bit awkward in that sense."

The former Hollyoaks cast member added that his real-life girlfriend Jessica Derrick will not be getting jealous over the upcoming storyline.

"To be honest, it's not too awkward because we're very happy in our relationship," he explained. "It's a job, and I'm playing somebody else so it's nothing to be taken too personally."

Coronation Street continues tonight at 8.30pm on ITV1.
