'Coronation Street' Simon Gregson: 'I want Steve McDonald to suffer'

Coronation Street star Simon Gregson has admitted that he wants life to stay tough for his character Steve McDonald.
Steve was recently left devastated as his ex Becky (Katherine Kelly) left Weatherfield just as he realised she was the love of his life.
The businessman is now facing further troubles as his new wife Tracy (Kate Ford) is refusing to leave their family home of Number 13 - even though he can't stand the sight of her after seeing her true colours.

Gregson told the Daily Star: "There's a great line where Steve says that he collects ex-wives like his brother collected stamps. That sums Steve up. The writers love dumping a bucket of s**t on him.
"Each woman comes along and it's just a different way of making him suffer. But do you know what? I love that about him. I love that the writers will never let him be happy."
Steve resorts to desperate measures later this week as he recruits builder Owen Armstrong (Ian Puleston-Davies) to convert Number 13 into two self-contained flats - keen to have Tracy out of his life.
The storyline is believed to spark a petty feud between Steve and Tracy as they play a number of tricks on each other, becoming the neighbours from hell.
Coronation Street continues on Thursday at 8.30pm on ITV1.
