'Coronation Street' Frank Foster trial pulls in 10.1m

Coronation Street maintained its lead over the other soaps on Monday evening as the first day of Frank Foster's rape trial pulled in more than 10m viewers, overnight figures show.

Coronation Street secured 9.77m (41.4%) at 7.30pm and 143k (0.6%) on +1 as Carla gave her evidence in court. 10.13m (39.5%) then watched at 8.30pm and 192k (0.8%) on timeshift as Carla and Peter's affair was exposed.

EastEnders, meanwhile, attracted 8.69m (34.7%) at 8pm as Derek threatened the Moon brothers. BBC Three's repeat screening had 805k (4.0%) at 10pm.

Emmerdale entertained 7.85m (35.4%) at 7pm as Cameron grew concerned over Andy's interference, while Hollyoaks managed 1.13m (5.2%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4, 501k (2.3%) for E4's first look at 7pm and 124k (0.5%) on E4+1.

Over on Channel 5, Neighbours took 785k (9.8%) at 1.45pm and 1.15m (6.5%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away managed 798k (4.0%) at 6pm and 411k (1.9%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors - titled 'Great Expectations' - was watched by 1.69m (21.2%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
