Carla (Alison King) has a positive start to the day as she begins to make some progress with Simon (Alex Bain), who reveals his favourite meal to her when she suggests making a family dinner from scratch that evening.
Later, though, things go wrong when Peter (Chris Gascoyne) has to ask Leanne (Jane Danson) to look after Simon, as he's busy dealing with a council licensing officer who has arrived at the bookies unexpectedly.
When an oblivious Leanne gives Simon his tea at The Rovers, a frustrated Peter loses his temper - and all hell breaks loose as he tries to drag his son back home.
In the end, Peter must break the news to Carla that Simon refused to come back with him - leaving their plans for the evening in tatters. As a row follows between the pair, will under-pressure Peter be tempted to drink?
