'Coronation Street' Lisa George "chuffed to bits" with TV Choice nod
The 41-year-old actress, who plays minor character Beth Tinker in the ITV soap, has been nominated in the 'Best Newcomer' category.
She told the Grimsby Telegraph: "My agent called me about the exciting news, because I didn't even realise that I had been nominated.
"I was shocked and over the moon at the same time - I didn't expect to be up for an award at all. I had family and friends texting and congratulating me for being nominated."
However, George noted: "I am up against some tough competition in the category from other actors who are also from Coronation Street, such as Catherine Tyldesley, who plays Eva Price."

The Weatherfield cast member still has to make the category's shortlist, which will be announced in July when the 12 names will be whittled down to 4.
George could go head-to-head with fellow Corrie star Natalie Gumede, who plays Tyrone's abusive fiancée Kirsty Soames, as well as the likes of EastEnders's Jamie Foreman (Derek Branning).
Her character Beth arrived with her son last August as a comical date for the hapless Steve McDonald, who was experiencing marital problems with Becky at the time.
"I don't feel like I'm a newcomer on set anymore because I'm really getting settled into my role," she added. "I love playing Beth, she is bold, brash and doesn't think before she speaks, unfortunately!"
Beth Tinker has been seen more in Weatherfield since gaining a job in the Underworld knicker factory.
