While no official announcement has been made about Lancel's casting, he teased the news during an appearance on Channel 5's The Wright Stuff today (May 30).
Lancel confirmed: "I will be doing a panto, yes. There's lots of rumours about it - I'm going to be doing one in Liverpool, I'm proud to say. I'm going home for Christmas and it's in association with the Echo Arena. It's going to be quite an event!"
Lancel has reportedly been in high demand to play a pantomime bad guy since Frank's ratings-winning Coronation Street storyline and his triumph as 'Villain of the Year' at the British Soap Awards.
Coronation Street fans saw Frank get his comeuppance in March as he was found dead following a destructive year on the cobbles. His own mother Anne was later unmasked as the culprit.
Full details of Lancel's pantomime role are expected to be revealed at a later date.
