Coronation Street star Catherine Tyldesley has praised the soap's new recruit Marc Baylis, hailing him as "brilliant" to work with.

The pair are currently thought to be filming a number of scenes together, as their characters Eva Price and Rob Donovan have been tipped for an upcoming romance storyline.

Rob is the long-lost brother of businesswoman Carla Connor, who arrives in Weatherfield following a stint in jail. Baylis's casting as Rob was announced last month, while his first scenes will air on July 9.

Tyldesley told Digital Spy of the upcoming storyline: "I don't want to give away too much, but Rob is going to be the fresh meat on the street and Eva is certainly attracted to him, because he does have charm and power.

"There's definitely something about him - he's very, very charming!"

She continued: "I actually did the screen tests when they were casting for Rob. Marc stood out for me, and I did let the casting panel know that. There's just something about him - there was a way that he went about creating the character that absolutely clicked.

"Marc is brilliant to work with - he's such a good laugh and we get on really well, which has made things a lot easier. When you're doing intimate scenes or you've got to pair up with somebody, it does help when you get on with them in real life. It's been great and it's working really well."

In the meantime, Coronation Street fans see heartbreak for Eva this week as her ex-boyfriend Nick Tilsley and half-sister Leanne decide to reunite.
