Coronation Street claimed 6.6m viewers with Kirsty Soames's labour scenes on Sunday evening (September 9), overnight figures show.

The ITV1 soap pulled in 6.61m (29.8%) at 7pm on ITV1 with its hour-long episode, which saw Kirsty give birth at The Rovers following a clash with arch-enemy Tina.

A further 285k (1.1%) caught the episode on ITV1+1 an hour later.

The figures were up on the previous weekend's Sunday special, which had 5.87m in the same 7pm slot.
