Heading up the brash bunch is the unmistakable former Brookside and The Royal actor Michael Starke. The 49-year-old – who starred as Sinbad, the Scouse window cleaner – takes on the role of single dad Jerry Morton, arriving on the Cobbles to aid his fast food venture, 'Jerry's'.
Speaking to Digital Spy at the launch, Starke said: "Jerry's loveable, a charmer and above all a family man; he'll do anything to support his kids and keep them going, they come first."
Meanwhile, Samantha Seager, who has already appeared in Weatherfield alongside ex-con Grandad Morton (Rodney Litchfield), plays Jerry's eldest daughter Jodie - a mother-figure to her brothers and sisters following their birth mother's departure.
The actress said: "I'm really chuffed the rest of the family's turned up. It's really nice to put all the pieces of the jigsaw together and it all starts to make a bit more sense… It's lovely."
Also moving into Charlie's (Bill Ward) old house are twins Darryl and Mel, played by 18-year-old Jonathan Dixon and 22-year-old Emma Edmondson. While Darryl has an eye for the ladies and likes to skirt on the edge of the law, his sister adopts a much quieter manner, determined to shape her own future.
Talking of his character, Dixon, who is best friends with fellow actor Jack P. Shepherd (David Platt) in real life, said: "Darryl's great. He's a loveable character who likes poking fun at everyone, especially his twin sister, Mel. He just lazes about all day and he likes his women. I could see him trying it on with quite a few people."
And Emma revealed: "Mel's definitely a Morton in the sense that she's really brash and gobby, but I think that out of the whole family she's the more sensible – definitely more so than Darryl. We're very close but very different."
Jessica Barden, 14, completes the line-up as Kayleigh Morton, a 12-year-old who's street-smart, head-strong and isn't scared to say what she thinks.
Jerry, Darryl, Mel and Kayleigh first appear in Weatherfield on Sunday, March 18th.
