Coronation Street bosses have denied rumours that Toyah Battersby could be heading back to Weatherfield.

A report in The Mirror today (October 31) said that Georgia Taylor was being lined up to reprise the role of Toyah next year, as part of several plans from new producer Stuart Blackburn.

However, a show spokesperson told Digital Spy that there is "no truth whatsoever" in claims that Toyah is returning.

Taylor played Toyah for six years before leaving the soap in 2003. Her exit storyline saw her depart Weatherfield in order to start a new life with her ex-boyfriend in London.

Taylor went on to play Dr Ruth Winters in BBC One's Casualty until last year.

Coronation Street's new boss Blackburn, currently series producer at Emmerdale, takes office in the New Year.
