Life on Coronation Street is never quiet, and 2012 has been no exception, with dramatic weddings, a murder mystery and a gritty domestic violence plot among the year's most high-profile storylines.

The ITV1 soap kicked off the year successfully as Becky McDonald's departure from Weatherfield pulled in 11.5 million viewers in January, while the murder of Frank Foster and subsequent whodunnit investigation also kept ratings high.

Peter, Carla, Nick and Leanne's ongoing love square continued to dominate storylines, while Tyrone Dobbs and Kirsty Soames's violent relationship provided uncomfortable yet compelling viewing.

Here, Digital Spy takes a look back at some of the show's key moments from the last 12 months with our Coronation Street Year in Pictures 2012.
