'Coronation Street' David, Kylie drama wins 8.1m viewers

Guilt-ridden Kylie plans a new life for herself and Max but will David be part of it? Has he lost his wife for good?


Coronation Street topped the soap ratings and was Friday's most-watched broadcast.

A single visit to the Street in which Kylie made a snap decision to leave Weatherfield pulled in 8.13m (35.5%) as well as 237,000 on +1.

Beforehand, Emmerdale took a decent 6.83m (30.2%) at 7pm and 207k on timeshift.

BBC One aired neither an episode of EastEnders nor an Omnibus.

Instead, Holby City filled the 8pm hour with 4.74m (20.8%) for a story focused on the future of boss Ric Griffin.

Meanwhile, a double bill of Hollyoaks grabbed 663k (3.7%) and 786k (3.9%) for Channel 4 from 5.30pm, after which the teen soap's E4 first looks both fetched 323k (1.4%).

A Corrie Years special entertained 2.46m (10.7%) on ITV1 at 8.30pm, adding 121k an hour later.
