Corrie crimper returns to Weatherfield

Nikki Sanderson will return to Coronation Street at the end of the year as Cobbles crimper Candice Stowe.

The 23-year-old actress – who played hairdresser Candice for six years before quitting in 2005 after reportedly feeling sidelined by producers – makes her Weatherfield return for the wedding of best friend Sarah-Louise Platt (Tina O'Brien).

An insider told The Mirror: "She was a big favourite with viewers and her character is one of the sexiest we've had in recent years. It's great to have her back."

Speaking of her return, Nikki said: "I absolutely adore the show and everything to do with it.

"It was just a case of wanting to spread my wings and try something new when I left."

Her autumn return plot has not yet been written, although producers hope to give her storylines which will make up for the show losing Tina O'Brien, who makes her exit at the end of the year.
