The actor, who plays Tyrone Dobbs on the ITV1 soap, has just returned from a trip to South Africa, where Hudson spends six months each year filming for Sunday night drama Wild At Heart. Pals have revealed that he is flying back out to see her in October - and will be taking an engagement ring with him.
A source told the Daily Star Sunday: "He hates to be so far apart from her and would fly out to see her every day if he could. They have talked about marriage in the past but nothing has happened until now. But Alan's got something up his sleeve and I think Lucy-Jo will like it!"
Halsall met Hudson on the set of Coronation Street and reports revealed that the pair had started dating in February 2005. Lucy-Jo's final scenes on the soap aired in April of the same year.
