The former Hear'Say star has enjoyed huge success since she joined the show as Michelle Connor. Her contract has just been renewed for another year and she is up for a gong at next week's National Television Awards.
Meanwhile her husband Jack Ryder quit EastEnders in 2002 and quit his next show, ITV1 drama The Royal Today, before the first episode had even been filmed.
But Ryder has claimed that her growing success has not caused friction between them and the couple are happy now they have moved north for her part in the soap.
She told The Sun: "Jack is an actor and he enjoys being an actor.
"There is more to life than just being on a TV show. Life up North is all great. We had to do it. We always said we would move for whoever was working and had the most steady job. It just so happened it was me. We’ve settled well and Jack’s very close to my family."
Ryder added: "Ours is just like any normal relationship - when I finish work I go straight home and we have dinner with the kids.
"We’re definitely not Peter and Jordan and we’re not the perfect couple. We’re just happy being us."
