New Corrie actor had never watched soap

The actor has joined the show as Harry Mason, who takes over the local bookies, and viewers will see his first scenes tomorrow night.
Ellis searched for a part in a "funny" programme after playing villainous Jim Fenner on Bad Girls, and he believes that Corrie fits the bill perfectly.
"I must admit I'd never watched an entire episode ever," Jack told the Sunday Mirror. "I really liked it and thought it was very funny. That was one of the main reasons why I took the job."
"Before I took the job on the Street, I was offered a part in EastEnders, but the role was too similar to what I had been playing," he explained. "EastEnders had what Bad Girls had, a lot of confrontation. Coronation Street is different. Its sense of humour is more my cup of tea, which is why I said yes."
