Liz Dawn films Corrie exit scenes

Actress Liz Dawn filmed her final scenes in Coronation Street yesterday.

Dawn, 69, who has played Vera Duckworth for 33 years, was given flowers and gifts by cast and crew after she finished filming.

The show's producers told the Mirror: "There wasn't a dry eye in the house."

Fellow Corrie actress Sally Whittaker commented: "Coronation Street will never be the same again."

Details of Vera's final scenes are being kept secret and will be screened in early 2008.

Dawn is leaving the soap due to her continuing battle with lung disease emphysema.
