In Pictures: David shoves Gail down stairs
Published Tuesday, Mar 4 2008, 00:02 GMT | By Kris Green
Coronation Street's David Platt stoops to an all-time low next week when he pushes his mother down the stairs, leaving her for dead.
David (Jack P Shepherd) loses his temper with Gail (Helen Worth) during a heated argument after overhearing his mother's revelation about his girlfriend Tina's (Michelle Keegan) secret pregnancy and abortion.
On hearing the shock news, David thunders up the stairs to pack his bags and leave for good. While Gail pleads for her son to listen, David shoves her down the stairs where she lays motionless on the floor below.
Realising the severity of his actions, David tries to rouse her but when she doesn't respond, he makes for the door and runs.
Speaking of David's latest dastardly deed, Jack P Shepherd revealed: "David sees Gail lying unconscious on the floor and panics completely as he is wracked with guilt. But instead of helping his mother as normal sane people would, he dashes out of the front door leaving her for dead.
"Eventually when Gail is discovered, David heads to the hospital and plays dumb with Audrey. He's worried, but it's more about him getting found out."
He added: "David started out as a sweet and innocent boy, but is growing more and more into a nasty piece of work. I love playing David; he changes all the time – he can be really twisted and psychotic but also a bit of a softie and a comedian too."

These scenes will air on Friday, March 14 at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV1.
