The actress beat Dawn (Vera Duckworth) and Antony Cotton (Sean Tully) to the title of TV Soap Personality of the year at the TRIC Awards for her portrayal of barmaid Michelle Connor.
She told The Sun that she would be thrilled for her character to become as iconic as Vera, who bowed out of the show in January after 34 years.
She said: "Liz is a complete legend. If I could be anywhere near as good as her or in the show for anywhere near as long as her that would be amazing.”
Talking about her awards triumph, she added: “I never expected to win. I’ve had an amazing couple of years.
“I’ll have been at Corrie for two years in June. The character seems to be really popular now. I have been given a great opportunity. I really think this is where I was supposed to be.”
