The soap failed to make the shortlist for the Continuing Drama prize, its first omission in a decade. EastEnders, The Bill, Holby City and Emmerdale make up the nominees.
Chatshow host Jonathan Ross was also notably absent from the BAFTA list, failing to get nominations in the Entertainment Programme and Entertainment Performance category.
The BBC's critically acclaimed costume drama Cranford has picked up four nods, including Best Drama Serial and a 12th BAFTA nomination for Dame Judi Dench.
Four first-time TV nominees are up for the Best Actor award: Andrew Garfield for Boy A, Tom Hardy for Stuart: A Life Backwards, Matthew Macfadyen for Secret Life and Antony Sher for Primo.
Hit time-travel drama Life On Mars is nominated for the second year running in the Best Series category. It faces competition from previous winner The Street, expensive BBC/HBO show Rome and teen drama Skins.
Channel 4 is the broadcaster with the most nominations, securing 23 in total. BBC One is up for 20 awards, ITV1 is nominated for 12 with BBC Two getting 11 nods.
