Corrie's David in wild April scenes

Coronation Street actor Jack P Shepherd is to continue his prominent run in the soap when his character runs riot on the Street.

Shepherd, who plays David Platt and has just been named 'Villain of the Year' at Digital Spy's inaugural soap awards, teased: "There's something really big coming up at the beginning of April that the whole Street will be talking about - so watch out!"

A Weatherfield source told DS: "We've just filmed some amazing scenes with Jack which see him totally destroying the Street. It was great fun filming is and the devastation is bound to cause friction amongst Weatherfield's residents."

Speaking about the strangest fan to speak to him in the street, he revealed: "They wanted me to sign the back of a microwave meal packaging box. They tore the corner off and it was beef stroganoff and mushroom gravy and it took 30 -35 minutes in a microwave at 850 watts.

"I've actually saved the card – I didn't sign it for them, I signed them a picture that I had on me and I've pinned it in my dressing room."

He added: "So thanks for that – I'll always know how to cook beef stroganoff in mushroom gravy!"
