Corrie producer given top ITV soap role
Coronation Street producer Steve Frost is to become head of continuing series at ITV.

He will now oversee the flagship soap at arm's length along with other top-rating series such as Emmerdale, The Bill and Taggart.

Kim Crowther is taking the helm at Corrie, as announced in November.

Frost leaves the show after two years and a total of eight at ITV Productions, where he has also worked as Emmerdale story editor and produced The Royal.

Among the Corrie storylines he has seen through are Tracy Barlow's murder of Charlie Stubbs, David Platt's tortured life and the exit of Vera Duckworth after 34 years on the soap.

Frost said: "After eight very enjoyable years with ITV Productions I am delighted to be able to join Laura's team and to continue working with ITV's and Britain's most popular dramas."

ITV director of drama Laura Mackie added: "To have secured someone of Steve's talent and experience in such a crucial role within ITV drama is fantastic. His track record speaks for itself and he fully deserves this new role looking after a wider remit of shows.

"I've no doubt that ITV's biggest programming brands will continue to excel under his guidance."

Frost will divide his time between London and ITV's operations in the North.
