Danson's husband joins Corrie cast

Jane Danson's husband Robert Beck has joined the cast of Coronation Street.

Beck, who will play hard man Jimmy Dockerson, started filming earlier this week. His first scenes will be aired next month.

The character will be an old friend of property developer Tony Gordon (Gray O'Brien).

"We’re chuffed Robert’s joining us," a source told The Sun. "He’s been in Brookie, Emmerdale and The Bill so he’s a bit of a soap veteran.

"His character Jimmy will be a tough nut and will make quite an impact."

A friend of the couple said: "[Jane] was over the moon when Robert landed the role. Now they can get up in the morning and go to work together."

Danson, who plays Leanne Battersby, met Beck at the 1999 British Soap Awards and married him in 2005.
