A Rovers rival for 'Coronation Street'?

There's a report in The Sun today claiming that there'll be a new fancy wine bar slash eaterie appearing on Coronation Street in the coming months.

Apparently, it'll replace the defunct Turner's Joinery building at the end of the street near Dev's corner shop and The Kabin.

Who's supposed to be running it?

None other than Weatherfield's resident restaurant arsonist Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) and recovering alcoholic Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne). A match made in heaven, no?

It's not all as cut and dried as it seems, though.

Could a wine bar really succeed on the same road as an established boozer? Will Leanne and Peter even last beyond October? Or will their dreams of a reunion - and a wine bar - quickly crumble?

It's a long way off yet, so you'll have to wait until October to find out...

It would be well mint! A wine bar would be fab - where all the good looking characters go! Make it more like Hollyoaks...Mega!!

I would love to see Peter and Leanne make a go of a relationship and wine bar. They make a good team on screen. Hope the rumours aren't true that Peter is leaving. Shame to see a good actor and character go. Especially since Leanne, Simon and Peter work very very well together..

I don't think that a wine bar should appear on Corrie. The rovers would soon be out of business.

This actually has potential. Putting it under the viaduct on Viaduct Street would be in keeping with premesis for these establishments. It would be nice to see something different used regularly. The restaurant did for a while but was never going to be a permanent hub for the Street regulars. The wine bar might not be, but could be used intermittently when needs be.
