Poll: Are Fiz and John right for each other?
Published Saturday, Aug 8 2009, 00:02 BST | By Kris Green | 3 comments
Last week, I asked if EastEnders' Ronnie Mitchell (Samantha Womack) should move on with her life.
You voted in your thousands as usual and it's definitely split opinion, especially with the arrival of her first love Joel Reynolds (Cavan Clerkin) on the scene.
Some 41.7% clicked the 'Yeah, she's starting to bore me now' option, while 40.7% disagreed, saying, 'No, she needs closure and Joel will be just that'.
The remaining 17.6% of those polled weren't sure if they even cared about the character any longer.
With a potential pregnancy on the horizon - she's slept with Ryan (Neil McDermott) already and next week beds Joel - there's possibly more to come…
This week, I look to another soap couple who seem to split the audience – Coronation Street's Fiz and John…

Earlier this week, Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) and John's (Graeme Hawley) secret engagement was finally exposed when Julie (Katy Cavanagh) blurted out the truth to the factory girls.
And now that Chesney (Sam Aston) knows, too, you'd think that Fiz could marry John and live happily ever after. Easier said than done, though. John's still in prison and nobody approves of their relationship, never mind their proposed marriage.
So as the loved-up pair plan their prison chapel service, Fiz continues lying to John that everyone's supporting them. If only he knew.

I personally think that the story's becoming a little tiresome. There's only so much of Fiz's whining I can put up with and last month's episodes maxed out my quota.
But what do you think? Are Fiz and John right for each other? Or should she can the kidnapper in favour of a more eligible Weatherfield bachelor?

Would gladly see Fiz written out of the show entirely. Her character is dull and extremely depressing. It's a shame they got rid of the Mortons - they're a hundred times better than this ridiculous storyline.

As most people disapprove of the relationship Fiz and John's wedding will probably be a very quiet affair.

Can't they think of anything new? It's just another version of that tried and trusted soap plot 'lets tell a pointless lie that can't help but be found out' and by two of the most dreary characters ever.
