This is the shocking moment Coronation Street's Tony Gordon (Gray O'Brien) asks for Maria Connor's (Samia Smith) hand in marriage - on the anniversary of her late husband Liam's death.
In an ironic turn of events, Maria asks Tony to visit Liam's grave with her and while there, he asks for her hand in marriage.
Is it really true love? Or is Tony trying to deal with the guilt of killing Liam in his own perverse way?
And don't forget Carla's (Alison King) on her way back...

they are such a cute couple, and even though I know that Tony is a mental murderer and that they are both taking a break from the show soon, it would be so great if they stay together!

Why is this labelled as "a shocker"? jeez.... like only the last six months have been leading up to this. What's really shocking is that viewers are supposed to swallow this plot line. No wonder Corrie never wins any awards these days when it treats its audience like fools.

I'm loving them two together. I love Tony, he is FIT! :P And Maria is so pretty, I think they are beautiful together, but don't forget that Tony is EVIL!

KG, Carla and Tony aren't divorced are they? I've heard no mention of a divorce anyhow. Can't wait for Carla's return, yipee! [True, they're not divorced... Suppose it doesn't stop him asking someone else to marry him, though. He'll obviously have to get divorced before anything else happens lol - KG]

I want this coupling to be true love but it is not going to last because Carla is on her way back, Tony has come to fall in love with Maria and I think Maria loves Tony but when she finds out what he did to her husband I don't think she will be able to forgive herself for being so naive.

I think its true love and can not wait till the proposal is on screen. Such a shame he's a murder but at least we know Tony's back next year after Gray O'Brien extended his contract. Oh and I heard Carla ends up killing jimmy, oh I hope it's true.
