Bad boy gone good?

Published Thursday, May 1 2008, 11:14 BST | By Kris Green | 15 comments
It looks like David Platt could finally be on the straight and narrow as his stint in HMYOI Larchfield comes to an early end.

But just where can Platt Jnr. go from here? Reading ahead, I'm pleased to see that they're resting his character for a while. Don't get me wrong, he's a great actor and portrays David well, but isn't there only so much bad one person can do before they become irredeemable?

What would you like to see David do next? Or do you think they've come to the end of the line with him? Let me know your thoughts using the form below!

Write him out. I am fed up with the daft storylines he keeps getting.

Argh they look so sweet I'm gonna puke!!! I think it is right to lay down his character for a while...

I shouldn't be surprised if David gets even badder when he's released. He should have been locked up for at least twenty years. By then, the Platts will have hopefully left the Street. However I'm glad that David will be forgotten about for a while.

I would like David and Tina to be happy for a while, maybe his sister returning could cause trouble? Or a 'friend' from prison may cause problems for him?

I'm glad that they can be happy again after the abortion. I love Tina and Michelle Kegan is a great actress. So is Jack P Shepard.

I hope when they say 'resting for a while' that doesn't mean ages, he is one of the best characters in Corrie and it just wouldn't be the same without him, it would be nice to see him become something to show that bad lads can change!!

He should go through counselling, it would make a good storyline, if it was real life he would be getting help that he badly needs. Father abandoning him, step-father trying to kill him and his family, he has not had a good male role model in his life up to now.

Let's see a different side to David. He used to be quite witty when he was younger. I think he and Tina could make the new Steve & Karen McDonald.
Terry, Poole, on May 2nd, 2008
David realises all his angst has built up because he had been in denial about his homosexuality, but going to prison and meeting a 'new' man has brought it all out and he outs himself to the world.

Forgot to add "Watch out Alan Sugar"!!!

David has a quick-witted brain on him, about time he used it. He could really make use of his family connections in the business areas (show Sarah a thing or two) and his cheeky way can get him past many obstacles - give him a chance (he can still have his wicked moments (laced more with a sense of humour than evil) - he wouldn't be David without them.

I would like to see David become one of the Street's most likeable lads. Perhaps train as a hair stylist and take over his grandma Audrey's salon and make it into a top stylists, attracting guest stars in for a makeover. Lets face it, hairdressers is where all the good gossip comes from. It would make a change from the pub.

I would like to see David settle down with Tina and stay out of trouble. It will be good to see how the character of David changes.

When you say "resting for a while", how long is that? I'd miss David very much if he was off screen for too long -- and as for future storylines... I hope David doesn't turn into 'Mummy's Little Angel' just because he spent eight weeks away from her. He's got mental problems, so it would be entirely unrealistic. A good storyline would be for him to express his "unstable mental state" in other ways than bad behaviour -- self harm or something like that. He's such a compelling character, and there's still A LOT more that can be done with him.
Doreen, Doncaster, on May 1st, 2008
I also think the character of David has run it's course (for now) of the evil doing. It's time for him to settle down, but no so much that it's unrealistic. After all, he always did have a chip on his shoulder, hence the attitude.
