At the police station, John denies everything but is stumped when the police officer questions why his wife hasn't called to enquire about him. John's soon released and returns home to ask Fiz why she didn't call the station. As Fiz assures him that she believes his story, the pair head out to The Rovers.
The regulars treat John with disdain and reaching the end of his tether, John challenges Rosie over her story. Much to Kevin and Sally's dismay, Rosie cracks and admits the truth. As they drag their daughter home, John and Fiz are relieved to have been publicly vindicated.
Lloyd panics as Teresa acts as though they're really engaged and enjoying his visible discomfort, she even shows him engagement ring brochures.
Meanwhile, Becky's alarmed when Michelle tells her that Steve's had a call from Bernie. Curious, Becky confronts Steve and he admits the truth about his golf bet with Dev. Becky vetoes the game when she learns the cost of club membership. When Steve tries to back out of the contest, though, Dev accuses him of chickening out. With that, Steve vows to beat him.
Elsewhere, George and Eve visit Simon, who tells them about the fire at the flat. George is disturbed but Peter admits he was to blame and insists that it was a turning point to him becoming a good father. George is mollified but for how long?
Also, Eileen rumbles Eddie's guttering scam and decides to play him at his own game.
