Coronation Street actor Chris Gascoyne is to reprise his role as bookmaker Peter Barlow.
The 40-year-old's character was last seen leaving Weatherfield for a new life in Portsmouth with his nephew Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson).
He is now set to return to the soap when the street's axed betting shop owners Harry Mason (Jack Ellis) and son Dan Mason (Matthew Compton) leave in October.
A source at the soap told DS: "Chris is back filming with us quite soon and he'll be around for quite a while."
In January, Gascoyne was handed a year's driving ban after being caught above the drink-drive limit.
