Coronation Street's Alexandra Boyd has claimed that she first heard she had been axed from the programme when she read it in a newspaper.

The soap star said bosses hadn't contacted her about plans to end her stint on the show.

"I was disappointed that the producers didn't have the courtesy to tell me first," Boyd told The Mirror.

Boyd, who plays Clarissa Mason, admitted she was "stunned" by her sudden exit.

The actress revealed that after leaving the soap she is lined up to appear in John Travolta's latest big screen project From Paris With Love.
