Coronation Street's former pill addict Joe McIntyre takes the proverbial bull by the horns during tonight's instalment of the Weatherfield soap when he proposes to unlucky-in-love partner Gail Platt.

Having refurbished the once-derelict boat which now sits proudly on the Platts' driveway, Joe (Reece Dinsdale) arranges a romantic evening meal.

As he builds up to the big moment, he's interrupted numerous times by boiling soup and a phonecall from Gail's daughter Sarah, but he eventually manages to pop the question to a delighted Gail, who accepts his proposal.

However, their glee is short-lived as Joe's financial troubles catch up with him during next Monday's episode when he's confronted by a debt collector.


Coronation Street airs tonight at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV1.
