Ex-Corrie star Capron to cook for charity

Former Coronation Street star Brian Capron will cook at top Belfast restaurant Ginger on Friday to raise money for Children In Need.

The actor, who played murderer Richard Hillman in the soap, will be working alongside celebrities Dana and Jan Leeming to cook a three-course meal for 70 diners, under the watch of head chef Simon McCance.

Capron, who was first to be voted off this series of Strictly Come Dancing, has insisted that he is looking forward to the new challenge.

He said: "I do most of the cooking at home and although I've never cooked for a party this size, I'm pretty confident of my cooking skills.

"I've been over to Belfast a few times to meet Simon, who showed me the ropes and told me what he expected on the night.

"Obviously cooking for so many people will be quite pressurised, but as long as we all co-operate and keep our cool, I think it will go well."

Speaking about his early exit from the BBC1 dancing contest, Capron added: "It was sad to go out so early and of course I would have loved to stay on. When I watch some of the contestants and see how their confidence has grown from week to week, I've thought that that could have been me.

"But I loved taking part and was delighted to be asked."
