S02E01: 'The Desperate Kingdom of Love'

Nathan and Lucas were united in the first series when Lucas won a place on the Tree Hill squad, but rivalry and tension soon flared between the pair, who discovered that they had something in common after all - their father.

While Nathan was brought up by his natural father, Dan, and given a taste of luxury, Lucas and his mother struggled to get by without his father's help. While struggling to deal with the emotional implications of their blood ties, the brothers also had to contend with their shared feelings for Peyton. But she wasn't the only person vying for their affections.

After the tense end-of-season finale, the compelling teen drama returns to the town of Tree Hill to continue the story where it left off last year. Dan lies in hospital after a heart attack while Deb contemplates the part she played in putting him there; Peyton and Brooke vow never to let boys come between their friendship; while Lucas and Keith have returned to Charleston to start new lives.

But could Dan's condition encourage them to return to face more drama, intrigue and deep, dark family secrets?
