S03E01: 'Like You Like an Arsonist'

Aside from their love for basketball, self-assured Nathan Scott and quietly driven Lucas Scott initially seemed to have little in common.

Even though the two boys share the same father, they grew up on opposite sides of the tracks in the small town of Tree Hill, North Carolina.

But two years ago, Lucas and Nathan came together and even played on the same high school basketball team.

Nathan married Lucas' best friend, Haley James, and the half-brothers share the same friends in classmates Peyton Sawyer, Brooke Davis and Mouth. While the teenagers adjust to their shifting relationships, the town's adults - Dan, father of Nathan and Lucas; Dan's estranged wife, Deb; Lucas' mother, Karen Ro; Dan's older brother, Keith; and grizzled high school basketball coach Whitey Durham - cope with the consequences of their past actions.

In the season premiere, after spending the summer out of town, Brooke returns to Tree Hill.

Lucas welcomes his mother at the airport, while Peyton investigates a mysterious woman who claims to be her mother.

Meanwhile, Nathan must deal with Haley's reappearance and the aftermath of the fire at Scott Motors, and Dan's fate after the fire is revealed.
